Tablets through their ease of use, built-in accessibility options, relatively low cost and numerous inexpensive and free apps have greatly expanded opportunities for student with and without disabilities. However, while they are an extremely useful tool, they have some drawbacks that must be considered before deciding if a tablet is an effective assistive technology device. It is extremely important to remember that the IEP Team needs to consider what students are struggling to do and the environment where they will be using the device.
